About the event
About Capital Gardens
The roots of Capital Gardens, an independent business, go back to 1981 when a landscape business was started by Colin and Rosemary in Battersea. This has now grown into a leading independent gardening company with six garden centres.
Our garden centres are located in the Southeast of England, with three in London at Alexandra Palace (North West London), Wandsworth (South West London), Sheen (Richmond), and outside London at Berkhamsted, Sherfield-on-Loddon (Just North of Basingstoke) and Studley Green (North West of High Wycombe). At the centres we continually strive to offer a diverse and large collection of plants throughout the seasons, suited to our country’s varied climate and seasons.
About RHS Woody Plant Committee
The Woody Plant Committee was formed in 1859 as part of the Floral Committee and renamed in 2005. It is the source of expertise for hardy trees and shrubs, which includes old hybrid and species roses as well as hardy climbing plants. The committee makes study visits to many gardens with important collections. It has strong links with the International Dendrology Society and other relevant societies, and membership includes representatives from the RHS Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia Group. The RHS is the International Cultivar Registration Authority for clematis, conifers and rhododendrons.
